Glow worm caves and breams head hike ππ€π§πΌ♀️π
Last night we headed out to organ cave to see the glow worms. Glow worms are little insects that live in dark/damp environments. A chemical reaction between oxygen in the air results in bioluminescence which causes them to light up blue in the dark. And yes I did turn to google for that definition π. We headed out at about 9:30 at night to go caving. We crawled through dark, muddy caves to see the glow worms. It was really neat to see them! When we turned off our headlamps we were able to see all these glow worms light up. They were really neat to see, but I couldn’t get my phone to capture a picture of them. Google has really good pictures of them if you’re curious as to what they look like. We got back completely wet and muddy around 11:30 at night and had to be up at 3:15 for our hike the next morning.

After 3 short hours of sleep we woke up to hike bream head. It was early but so worth it. It’s a 4.5 mile hike up a mountain. We started off on the beach, climbed up some sand dunes, walked through some coastal forest, then climbed up some rocks to get to the top. Mind you this was done around 5 in the morning so it was completely dark while we were doing this. We got to the top and saw the sunrise. It was so so beautiful. Definitely worth the early morning start. On one side of the mountain was all ocean then the other side was ocean and you could see some of the city. My legs are scratched up and bruised from hiking and climbing in the dark but it was definitely worth it! After the hike we spent some time at the beach.
After the hike we went to a brothers house and made our own bowls! It was really neat. We had a block of woood that we shaved down and sanded into bowls. I can’t wait to bring them home and use them.
